Where Winds Meet is preparing to expand its open-world wuxia adventure with Qingzhou, a new region arriving on October 15. The first Theme Region introduces a different side of the Jianghu, trading some of its familiar martial arts intensity for coastal exploration, philosophical debates, and encounters with locals who are just as willing to lend a helping hand as they are to join a fight. The region will expand further on October 29, when the mist-covered island of Penglai opens its doors to players.
Qingzhou brings together rugged mountains, sweeping coastlines, and the mudflats where the Yellow River meets the ocean. Players will begin their journey at Eastern Peak, making their way along pine-covered mountain paths before taking in the region’s expansive coastal scenery. Beyond its landscapes, Qingzhou aims to offer a more welcoming atmosphere, with friendly residents willing to guide wandering adventurers and even pick up their tools to help fight off threats.
The region also introduces the Inkbound Order, a new Sect built around the belief that knowledge, art, music, and debate can settle disputes without drawing blood. Its philosophy extends to A Duel of Wits, a card-based PvP mode where players rely on clever arguments, proverbs, and psychological tactics to overcome their opponents. The new Sect also loosens the usual boundaries between martial arts schools, allowing players to study with the Inkbound Order as guest scholars without abandoning their existing Sect.
There will be plenty of opportunities to put those scholarly skills to the test outside the debate arena, too. Academy activities include serving as an Assistant Invigilator to catch students attempting to cheat during timed challenges, alongside more lighthearted Farm Recess events that bring some playful chaos to school life.
For players who would rather let their fighting speak for itself, Qingzhou introduces the Ribbon Drum, a new weapon type that combines martial arts with theatrical movement and classical court dance. Its flowing ribbons can strike and bind enemies, while also inflicting knockback and silence. Drumbeats provide support for the rest of the party through combat buffs, giving the weapon a role that blends crowd control with team support.
Three new world bosses round out the region’s major additions, each drawing on distinctive local arts and fighting techniques. Tidewatcher takes to the battlefield on bamboo stilts, combining operatic music with flower-spear attacks. Old Raftsman brings a resilient staff-based fighting style inspired by guiding timber rafts along river currents, while Zhu Yinghan, the leader of Dragonfall Camp, uses high-speed shuttlecock kicks to settle disputes.
With Qingzhou, Where Winds Meet is expanding its world with more than new landscapes and enemies. Its emphasis on debate, unusual combat styles, and everyday encounters offers a different way to experience the Jianghu, whether players prefer to explore the coast, test their wits against other Wanderers, or discover what its welcoming locals have to offer. Qingzhou arrives on October 15, followed by Penglai on October 29.
