Compile Heart’s dark action RPG Villion: Code will launch in the West on January 26, 2027, Idea Factory International has announced. The game will arrive on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, giving players across console and PC platforms a chance to experience the latest project from producer Kouji “Cozy” Okada.
Set in a near future where humanity faces extinction, Villion: Code follows the aftermath of a catastrophe at the Adhvan Resilience School. When monstrous creatures known as GEMs begin attacking, the academy city is sealed off by a mysterious barrier, leaving its inhabitants trapped as they struggle to uncover the truth behind the disaster.
The action RPG combines real-time combat with dungeon exploration and character progression. Players will explore randomly generated, 360-degree tube-shaped dungeons inspired by Buddhism’s Ten Evils, battling enemies and overcoming environmental gimmicks along the way. Combat revolves around Genome Arms, mutated weapons that allow characters to switch between melee and ranged attacks and chain together combos.
Players can also collect materials to create and upgrade Genome Cubes, improving character stats, unlocking passive skills, and gaining additional combat advantages. Conversation and Investigation events will further develop the narrative, with players making decisions that can influence how events unfold. Character artwork is provided by Ilya Kuvshinov.
Villion: Code brings together several established names from the Japanese RPG scene. Okada, known for his work on the Megami Tensei series, is joined by scenario writer Tadashi Satomi and composer Tsukasa Masuko, adding another notable collaboration to the game’s credits.
Digital releases will be available across all five platforms, while physical editions are planned for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch in North America, alongside a PlayStation 5 physical release in Europe. A Digital Deluxe Edition will also be available, bundling the game with a digital art book and soundtrack.
Villion: Code originally launched in Japan on June 25, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. Its Western release is scheduled for January 26, 2027.
