Mouthwashing is bringing its unsettling brand of psychological horror to more platforms just in time for Halloween. Publisher CRITICAL REFLEX and developer Wrong Organ have announced that the acclaimed indie horror game will launch for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on October 29, with a PC release through the Microsoft Store also planned for the same day.

Originally released on Steam in September 2024, Mouthwashing has built a strong following for its disturbing atmosphere, unsettling storytelling, and grim take on survival horror. The upcoming console release will give more players the opportunity to experience its nightmarish journey, while physical editions for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch will also be available through Fangamer.

Mouthwashing follows the five-person crew of the Tulpar, a space freighter left stranded after a catastrophic crash. With rescue seemingly impossible and supplies running dangerously low, the survivors must contend with starvation, isolation, and the increasingly fractured relationships between them. At the center of the disaster is Captain Curly, whose actions have left him horribly injured and dependent on the very crew he has doomed.

Rather than relying solely on conventional horror encounters, the game builds tension through its fragmented narrative, psychological scares, and the gradual unraveling of the crew’s circumstances. As the situation aboard the Tulpar deteriorates, players must piece together what happened while confronting the disturbing secrets surrounding the disaster.

Mouthwashing has sold more than 800,000 copies on Steam, according to CRITICAL REFLEX, and has earned multiple awards, including recognition for its narrative at the Horror Game Awards. Its October 29 release date also makes it a timely option for players looking for something more psychologically unsettling to play this Halloween.

With its console debut approaching, Mouthwashing is set to bring its claustrophobic sci-fi nightmare to a much wider audience. Players can check out the newly released console announcement trailer for a closer look at what awaits aboard the Tulpar.
