Zoom Platform Media has announced it will be bringing the arcade sports game Rockey Jockey and the adventure title Obsidian to the digital storefront Zoom and Steam on August 28th. The games were originally developed by Rocket Science Games, and published by SegaSoft in the 90s. SegaSoft was a joint venture between Sega and its then-shareholder CSK. In recent years, players have had many issues with trying to get these games working on modern machines, so this news from Zoom Platform Media, along with Call Your Vegetables, is a great surprise for fans.

Rocket Jockey was an action sports title released in 1996 featuring Rocket-based sports. The game could be played in single-player or multiplayer and included three different modes — Rocket Ball, Rocket Racing, and Rocket War, each providing a different twist on the gameplay.

Obsidian, was an ambitious five-CD-ROM adventure game reminiscent of games like Myst. It starred a character named Lilah searching for her partner Max with an AI named Ceres as her guide, and featured a soundtrack from musician Thomas Dolby, and pre-rendered backgrounds that still look good now.

The store pages are both live now:

In addition, the Zoom versions also come with some bonus content that is not available on Steam, such as Obsidian including additional box artwork, concept art, manuals, and a Beta video preview with the director’s commentary, and Rocket Jockey including a download for a lossless FLAC soundtrack and an English promotional booklet.
