The Outlast Trials has officially arrived on Nintendo Switch 2, giving players another way to experience Red Barrels’ cooperative survival horror game just in time for Halloween. The game is available now through the Nintendo eShop for $39.99.

Unlike the mainline Outlast games, which focus on single-player horror, The Outlast Trials lets players face its disturbing experiments alone or team up with up to three other players. Set during the Cold War, the game puts players in the hands of the Murkoff Corporation, which subjects unwilling test subjects to brutal experiments involving brainwashing and mind control.

Survival depends on avoiding enemies, hiding, and escaping rather than fighting back directly. Players can also unlock tools, upgrades, and perks to improve their chances of surviving each trial, while collecting evidence of Murkoff’s unethical activities along the way.

Originally launched in Early Access on PC in May 2023, The Outlast Trials received its full release across consoles and PC in March 2024. Its arrival on Nintendo Switch 2 now gives another audience the opportunity to experience its blend of psychological horror and cooperative survival.
