The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero and The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure are now available on Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5, bringing the acclaimed Crossbell duology to the latest generation of consoles.
Both games feature a number of performance and visual enhancements on the new platforms, including support for resolutions up to 4K and frame rates of up to 120 FPS. Players can also switch between original and upscaled textures, while the Nintendo Switch 2 versions add mouse input support.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero follows Lloyd Bannings as he returns to his hometown of Crossbell after three years away and joins the Crossbell Police Department. Rather than being assigned to a conventional police unit, Lloyd finds himself in the newly established Special Support Section, where he works alongside Elie MacDowell, Randy Orlando, and Tio Plato while investigating the city’s various mysteries and problems.
Crossbell itself sits at the centre of an ongoing struggle between the Erebonian Empire and the Republic of Calvard. Despite its relatively small size, the city-state has become a major economic power, making its political position increasingly precarious.
Trails from Zero also includes a High-Speed Mode for moving through the city and battles more quickly, alongside its upgraded visuals and textures on Switch 2 and PS5.
Trails to Azure continues Lloyd’s story just a few months after the events of Trails from Zero. The Special Support Section has gained recognition following its previous exploits, but the fragile peace in Crossbell begins to unravel as competing organizations pursue their own agendas.
With pressure mounting from both Erebonia and Calvard, Lloyd and his allies find themselves caught in a conflict that could determine the future of Crossbell. Trails to Azure expands on its predecessor with new combat features such as Burst and Back Attack, as well as a customizable car and appearances from familiar characters from The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel.
Players who have save data from Trails from Zero can also import it into Trails to Azure to unlock additional conversations and alternate dialogue. Like its predecessor, the new versions support up to 4K resolution and 120 FPS, along with original or upscaled textures.
