Company of Heroes – Definitive Edition will launch for PC via Steam in early 2027, Relic Entertainment has announced. The studio also released a new trailer celebrating the 20th anniversary of the acclaimed World War II real-time strategy game.
Originally released twenty years ago this week, Company of Heroes became one of the most highly regarded RTS games of its era thanks to its cinematic World War II storytelling, squad-based tactics, destructible environments, and immersive presentation. The new Legacy Trailer looks back at some of the original game’s iconic moments while showcasing what players can expect from the upcoming Definitive Edition.
Developed in partnership with BBI, Company of Heroes – Definitive Edition will preserve the gameplay, storytelling, and atmosphere of the original while introducing a number of improvements for modern PC players. The release includes the original Company of Heroes, as well as the Opposing Fronts and Tales of Valor expansions.
The Definitive Edition has been built on a fully upgraded 64-bit platform to support modern PC systems while retaining compatibility with two decades of community-created content and mods. Visual enhancements include improved lighting, shadows, water, reflections, textures, rendering features, and draw distances, while gameplay and interface improvements include enhanced AI, a modernized user interface, grid key support, and various quality-of-life updates.
The game will also be optimized for widescreen and ultrawide displays. The complete package includes all four factions, three full-length campaigns, three additional single-player stories, and more than 50 skirmish and multiplayer maps.
Company of Heroes – Definitive Edition will be priced at US $29.99, £23.99 GBP, and €28.99 EUR. Existing owners of Company of Heroes on Steam will receive a 30% discount.
Relic is also using the anniversary to recognize the community that has supported the franchise over the past two decades, including players, modders, content creators, community leaders, and early play-testers. The studio says it will continue investing in the franchise through ongoing support for Company of Heroes 3, community initiatives, and the upcoming Definitive Edition.
