A lost TAITO game has been found. The Taito X-55 was a 1995 home karaoke system only sold in Japan, that allowed players to download games over a wired internet connection. It also ran non-Karaoke-themed games, and one of them was the 1997 title Crescent Tale. This was a single-screen platform title which borrows elements from other TAITO titles such as Bubble Bobble and Don Doko Don.

It was assumed the game was lost due to the fact that games were downloaded to the machine instead of getting a physical release but the game’s original planner “FUINARLE” has discovered not just the original design documents for the game, but also a backup copy which runs on original hardware.

The game is thus preserved and no longer lost, but now the question is if the game will ever get a wide release on modern systems so the greater audience can play it.
