Stellar Blade: Complete Edition is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 later this year, and while Shift Up still hasn’t revealed an exact release date, the developer has now offered a closer look at what Nintendo fans can expect from the port.
The Switch 2 version was first announced back in June, bringing Shift Up’s action RPG to Nintendo hardware for the first time. Since then, details have been relatively limited, but a new interview with Shift Up CTO Dong-ki Lee has shed some light on how the studio is taking advantage of the console’s unique features.
Speaking with IGN at Gamescom 2026, Lee discussed the implementation of HD Rumble 2 and explained that Shift Up didn’t simply create a new set of vibration effects specifically for Switch 2. Instead, the team went much further by taking the data originally created for the PlayStation 5 version and adapting it for Nintendo’s hardware.
“If we had just tried to recreate the data for it to work on Switch 2 for HD Rumble, we wouldn’t have been able to offer the same experience,” Lee explained. “What we did was take the exact same data that we use for PlayStation 5 and convert it to fit HD Rumble on Switch 2. So, what you’re feeling is actually the exact same gameplay experience that you would feel on PlayStation 5.”
That could make HD Rumble 2 one of the more interesting aspects of Stellar Blade: Complete Edition. The PS5 release made extensive use of haptic feedback to add additional weight and impact to combat, so bringing that same underlying data to Switch 2 suggests the port isn’t simply attempting to approximate the experience with standard controller vibration.
Shift Up is also taking advantage of several other features built into the Switch 2 hardware. Lee confirmed that Stellar Blade: Complete Edition will support touchscreen controls, gyro functionality and mouse controls, giving players several different ways to interact with the game.
The inclusion of mouse controls is particularly notable, as it gives Switch 2 owners another potential input option beyond traditional controller play. Combined with touchscreen and gyro support, Stellar Blade: Complete Edition is shaping up to make unusually extensive use of the Switch 2’s control capabilities.
The studio may not be finished revealing what the Switch 2 version has in store, either. When asked whether there were any additional surprises planned for the port, Lee stopped short of confirming anything outright, but suggested that Shift Up could have more information to share at a later date.
“We plan on revealing something later, maybe, maybe not,” Lee said. “Well, in not wanting to give you an expectation, we just haven’t revealed any more details just yet.”
While that response is deliberately vague, it leaves the door open for another Switch 2-specific feature or enhancement to be announced before launch. With the game already confirmed to support several of the system’s unique input options, it will be interesting to see what Shift Up has yet to reveal.
Stellar Blade: Complete Edition follows EVE, an elite warrior sent to Earth to battle mysterious forces while investigating what happened to humanity and the planet itself. The game combines fast-paced action with cinematic storytelling, character progression, customizable skills and equipment, and challenging boss encounters.
The Complete Edition also brings the additional content and updates released since the original game launched, making this version a substantial package for players discovering Stellar Blade for the first time.
Nintendo fans will also be able to make use of Joy-Con 2 motion controls during certain activities outside of the game’s main combat, adding another layer of interaction to the Switch 2 release.
For now, the biggest missing piece is still the release date. Shift Up has confirmed that Stellar Blade: Complete Edition will arrive on Switch 2 this year, but the developer has yet to announce exactly when EVE’s adventure will make its debut on Nintendo’s newest console.
With PS5-derived HD Rumble data, touchscreen functionality, gyro controls, mouse support and the possibility of additional features still waiting to be announced, there could be more to this Switch 2 port than initially expected.
