Square Enix has packed plenty of RPG news into its latest round of announcements, with Crisis Core –Final Fantasy VII– Reunion now available on Nintendo Switch 2 alongside the release of Dragon Quest Heroes: Torneko’s Mystery Dungeon -Classic HD-. The publisher also revealed a new look at Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United and released a free demo for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World.
Crisis Core –Final Fantasy VII– Reunion is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, giving players another chance to experience the story that helped set the stage for Final Fantasy VII and its upcoming third Remake entry, Final Fantasy VII Revelation.
The Switch 2 version features the game’s complete HD presentation, including improved character models, UI and backgrounds, alongside fully voiced dialogue in both English and Japanese. The action combat has also been streamlined, with players able to trigger Limit Breaks and Summons more easily.
To celebrate the release, Crisis Core –Final Fantasy VII– Reunion is currently 30% off for a limited time. The promotion runs until Sept. 23, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. local time.
The game is also available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
Meanwhile, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World has received a free demo across Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and Xbox on PC.
The demo covers the game’s opening chapter, introducing players to its characters, battle system, monster synthesis and exploration. Players will also be able to transfer up to eight monsters from the demo into the full game when it launches on Dec. 3, 2026. Those monsters will be transferred at level 1 with their default talents.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World features more than 500 new and returning monsters, alongside upgraded visuals and a story following dual protagonists Bianca and Nera as they attempt to restore the world of Witherwood. Pre-orders are now available across all announced platforms.
Square Enix also offered a fresh look at Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United, a full HD remake of the classic RPG from the developers behind Trials of Mana and Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven.
The remake retains the series’ Freeform Scenario system, allowing player decisions to determine which stories unfold and how the adventure progresses. It will feature updated HD visuals, the original soundtrack by Kenji Ito, newly arranged versions supervised by Ito and fully voiced event scenes in Japanese and English.
The story takes place during the Rise of Morastrum, a catastrophic cycle that occurs every 300 years and claims the lives of everyone born during that year except for one Child of Destiny. Players can choose between eight protagonists and decide which regions to explore, which scenarios to pursue and when to confront the Four Sinistrals as they attempt to reopen the Abyss Gates.
Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United launches on Feb. 16, 2027, for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and Xbox on PC. Pre-orders are currently available.
Finally, Dragon Quest Heroes: Torneko’s Mystery Dungeon -Classic HD- is now available worldwide for the first time, bringing the 1993 Dragon Quest IV spin-off to modern platforms outside Japan.
The game follows Torneko, the weapons merchant from Dragon Quest IV, as he pursues his dream of building the world’s greatest item shop. The remaster features updated HD visuals, quality-of-life improvements and a new opening video created with artwork from Naoki Ikushima, known for his work on the Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake and Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake.
The roguelike adventure sends Torneko into constantly changing dungeons where every action can give enemies an opportunity to strike back. Players will need to defeat monsters, collect treasure and grow stronger while attempting to make it back safely with their haul.
Dragon Quest Heroes: Torneko’s Mystery Dungeon -Classic HD- is now available on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. The Steam version also includes interactive streaming features exclusive to the platform.
