A new point-and-click adventure is taking players to southern Israel in the early 1990s, with Secret of the Desert drawing inspiration from classic Sierra and LucasArts games. Developed and published by Gentle Mischief, the pixel art adventure is planned for release on PC via Steam in 2027.
Secret of the Desert follows Shai Hachmon, a cynical but intelligent teenager whose interests lie more in computers and science than in school. When Shai becomes entangled in a sinister conspiracy involving powerful and corrupt figures seeking the legendary treasure of an ancient civilization, he must navigate a series of dangerous challenges to stop their plans and save his beloved teacher.
The adventure takes place across a small Israeli town, the surrounding desert, and the mysterious ruins of an ancient nomadic city. Its early 1990s setting and pixel art presentation accompany a point-and-click format inspired by the adventure games of Sierra and LucasArts, with exploration, puzzles, investigation, and a mystery at the center of the experience.
Secret of the Desert is currently planned for release in 2027, and its Steam listing confirms support for both English and Hebrew text, alongside full Hebrew audio. The game is not yet available to play, but PC players can add it to their Steam wishlists ahead of launch.
