Reissad Studio is preparing to take its hyper-realistic first-person shooter Bodycam to the next level with the upcoming v0.8 “Locked and Loaded” update, and the developer has now revealed the first of four detailed devlogs outlining what players can expect when the massive update launches on September 2, 2026.
Rather than simply adding new content, the v0.8 update is designed to rebuild and refine many of Bodycam’s core systems, with a particular focus on making its operators, weapons, and overall interface feel more grounded and believable.
The first devlog puts a major emphasis on animations and weapon handling. Reissad Studio is introducing a range of contextual and procedural animations intended to make every action feel more physical. Reloads, weapon handling, and reactions to combat will dynamically change depending on factors such as the player’s stance, ammunition, stress level, and proximity to danger.
This includes new bodycam adjustments, variations in hand positioning, and instinctive physical reactions to events such as nearby explosions. The goal is to make operators appear less like traditional video game characters and more like people reacting naturally to an unpredictable combat situation.
The update will also introduce a completely reworked Loadout system. Players will be able to customize their primary and secondary weapons, melee equipment, explosives, and tactical gadgets, with new equipment unlocked through progression and RP, or Reissad Points.
Strategic options will expand even further with the addition of physics-based FPV drones and explosive RC cars. These tools are intended to give players new ways to scout areas, gather information, and engage opponents without relying exclusively on their firearms.
Another major change comes in the form of an in-game tablet that replaces the traditional menu system. Instead of pausing the action to manage equipment or adjust settings, players will be able to pull out their tablet while still in the match. Doing so keeps them completely vulnerable, meaning checking equipment or changing settings could leave players exposed at exactly the wrong moment.
“The ‘Locked and Loaded’ update is much more than just adding new content; it’s about shaping the future of Bodycam,” said Luca Dassier, Studio Director at Reissad Studio. “Our relentless goal remains absolute realism and immersion, never seen or felt quite like this.”
The first devlog is available now through the official Bodycam YouTube channel, giving players an early look at the systems being rebuilt for the upcoming update.
Reissad Studio isn’t stopping there, either. Three additional devlogs are scheduled to arrive ahead of the September 2 launch, with upcoming episodes focusing on the game’s sound design, the new “Trenches” map, and a collection of quality-of-life improvements.
With v0.8 “Locked and Loaded,” Bodycam looks set to push its commitment to realism even further, rebuilding fundamental aspects of the experience while introducing new tools and systems for players to experiment with. The full update arrives on September 2, 2026.
