A mysterious island, forgotten machinery, and a growing collection of increasingly complicated puzzles are making their way to Nintendo Switch, as Blue Brain Games has announced that Quern – Undying Thoughts will launch on the platform on October 6, 2026.
The release comes almost exactly ten years after the atmospheric first-person puzzle adventure originally arrived on Steam, giving Nintendo Switch players their first chance to explore the strange world of Quern.
The game begins with players arriving on the isolated island under unusual circumstances. Before there is much time to understand what has happened, the portal that brought them there closes, leaving no obvious way back. With the route home gone, exploring the island and unraveling its secrets becomes the only way forward.
Quern is designed around observation, experimentation, and environmental puzzle solving, with its challenges becoming more complicated as players uncover more of the island. Rather than simply following a linear path from one puzzle to the next, players will need to examine their surroundings, pay attention to clues left behind by those who came before them, and figure out how the island’s strange machinery works.
The island itself is a major part of the experience, with forgotten locations, unusual mechanisms, and hidden details gradually revealing more about its history. Each discovery provides another piece of the larger mystery while opening up new areas to explore and puzzles to solve.
Blue Brain Games is also positioning the Nintendo Switch release as an atmospheric adventure, with the island’s scenery and environments playing an important role alongside its first-person puzzles and exploration.
