Chinese studio Joystick has revealed that it is working with publisher Success on a remaster of Metal Saga: Season of Steel, the 2006 DS RPG. Season of Steel was the second Metal Saga game, and along with its predecessor, were spiritual sequels to the Metal Max series. The remaster is in the works for Nintendo Switch 2 PS4, PS5, and PC.
While the original DS game made use of the system’s dual screen, and had a touchscreen-only control scheme, there will be changes here. The remaster will combine both screens into a single monitor interface, and will now use button-based inputs . There will also be a number of bug fixes from the original release.
The remaster was showcased at a Chinese event with a Simplified Chinese localization, but the booth logo was written in English, indicating an English localization is planned. This would be welcome, as the original game never left Japan.
