Gothic – A Shadow’s Quest is giving its crowdfunding campaign one final twist, introducing a timed endgame that could unlock additional rewards for backers if they can keep the clock running. The Gamefound campaign is scheduled to end on October 23, but a new community-inspired mechanic will give participants a chance to extend the deadline and secure extra content.
The Endgame begins at 2:50 PM CEST, just 10 minutes before the campaign’s original 3:00 PM CEST deadline. Each new pledge or qualifying add-on purchase will extend the countdown by another 10 minutes, although extensions do not stack and each backer can only contribute once. The campaign will continue as long as new contributions arrive before the timer expires, but once it reaches zero, the opportunity will be gone.
One way for existing backers to participate is through a new Sleeper Mask fridge magnet add-on, priced at €2. However, the real incentive is the additional content that could become available if the campaign stays alive beyond its original deadline. Should it run even one minute past the scheduled end, the 24 standard D12 dice included in the Ultimate and All-In Editions will be replaced with special Gothic D12 dice at no extra cost. All editions will also receive two free Transformation into Wolf spell scroll cards.
Further rewards will be unlocked for every four hours the campaign remains active beyond its original deadline. These include a new combat scenario after four hours, two Transformation: Lurker spell scrolls after eight hours, an additional one-shot scenario after 12 hours, and two Transformation: Minecrawler spell scrolls after 16 hours. Reaching 20 hours of overtime will introduce a pickpocketing mechanic for certain NPCs, while 24 hours will unlock the new Shipwreck area, which requires the Swimming ability. More rewards could still be announced as the endgame progresses.
Gothic – A Shadow’s Quest is being developed by THQ Nordic’s board game division, the team behind Darksiders – The Forbidden Land. The project has also received creative input from the developers working on the Gothic 1 Remake, with the aim of bringing the series’ distinctive atmosphere to the tabletop.
The campaign’s final stretch now offers backers a chance to push beyond the original deadline while unlocking additional content for every edition. Those interested can follow the campaign and its Endgame rewards on Gamefound.
