Friendship is about to be put to the test in FLING UP TOGETHER, a new two-player co-op physics platformer where one rope connects both players and one mistake can send an entire run crashing back down. Developer OFF BOX Studios has released a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming game, while a free demo is now available on Steam.
In FLING UP TOGETHER, two players are tied together as they attempt to climb through a colourful vertical world filled with sky islands, floating ruins and enormous bridges. The rope isn’t simply there to keep the pair connected, as players can actively pull on it to fling their partner across gaps, catch them during a fall or, potentially, make a bad situation considerably worse.
That creates a co-op experience where both players are constantly affecting each other’s movement. Anyone can pull the rope at any time, meaning a perfectly timed launch can save a run just as easily as an ill-timed tug can ruin one. With a fall resetting the team’s progress, communication becomes just as important as mastering the game’s physics.
The rope isn’t the only mechanic designed to keep the two players working together. Colour-coded platforms mean each player can only stand on platforms matching their colour, forcing the pair to figure out how to open paths and then use the rope to physically bring their partner along. Rather than simply tackling the same obstacle side by side, both players are responsible for getting the other person through it.
Naturally, things aren’t always going to go according to plan. Ragdoll physics, moving obstacles and the game’s deliberately silly presentation are designed to turn failed attempts into part of the fun. One moment can see players executing a carefully coordinated fling, while the next can have both of them tumbling down after one unfortunate pull.
FLING UP TOGETHER is coming to Steam, with a free demo available now for players who want to try out its rope-based co-op before launch. The game is also available to wishlist on the platform.
