Falcom and NEOWIZ have announced a new licensing agreement that will see NEOWIZ develop and globally release a PC and console title based on Falcom’s The Legend of Heroes III: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch.
Originally released for the PC-9801 in Japan in 1994, The Legend of Heroes III is the third main entry in Falcom’s The Legend of Heroes series. The RPG is known for its emphasis on storytelling and worldbuilding, following the journey of young Jurio and Christina as they travel across the world of Tirasweel.
Along the way, the pair encounter a variety of characters and communities, with their relationships developing throughout the journey. Music also plays an important role in the adventure, with performances forming part of the game’s memorable narrative.
The Legend of Heroes III: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch is part of the Gagharv Trilogy alongside The Legend of Heroes IV: A Tear of Vermilion and The Legend of Heroes V: Song of the Ocean. The three games feature different characters and regions while sharing a broader world, and the trilogy is regarded as a precursor to Falcom’s long-running Trails series.
The Gagharv Trilogy also has a notable place among Falcom fans. A survey conducted by game media as part of the company’s 40th anniversary celebrations saw the trilogy voted first in the “Titles or Series Fans Want Released on Current Hardware” category.
For now, specific details about NEOWIZ’s The Legend of Heroes III: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch adaptation, including its gameplay, release date, and platforms beyond the announced PC release, have yet to be revealed.
