Spike Chunsoft has announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Danganronpa 2×2 will be released on a game-key card in all regions, including North America and Europe.

The publisher says the decision was made following careful consideration, although it has not provided any additional details about why the game will use a game-key card rather than a traditional physical cartridge.

The announcement applies specifically to the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Danganronpa 2×2 and does not affect the game’s release or pre-orders on other platforms. It also has no impact on any other games from Spike Chunsoft.

For customers who pre-ordered the Danganronpa 2×2 Psycho Tropical Vacation Package for Nintendo Switch 2 through the Spike Chunsoft Official Store US, those orders will be canceled and customers will receive an email notification. New pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 game-key card version are available starting today.

Customers who pre-ordered the Psycho Tropical Vacation Package through the Spike Chunsoft Official Store UK or EU will not have their orders canceled. However, those customers should be aware that their copy of the game will be supplied on a game-key card.

The same applies to customers who pre-ordered either the Nintendo Switch 2 Standard Edition or Psycho Tropical Vacation Package from other retailers. Those pre-orders will remain valid, but the physical release supplied will be a game-key card.

Danganronpa 2×2 is currently scheduled to launch for Nintendo Switch 2 in North America and Europe in early 2027. The game brings together Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair and a new scenario, giving fans another reason to return to the series’ murder-mystery world.

More information about Danganronpa 2×2 can be found on the official website, with additional updates available through Spike Chunsoft’s social media channels. Physical versions distributed in European regions are being handled by REEF Entertainment Ltd.
