What happens when tile-matching puzzles collide with fast-paced grid-based combat, medieval fantasy, and a world of floppy disks? Solo developer Regal Pigeon Games and publisher The Arcade Crew (Drop Duchy, Abyssus) are bringing that unusual combination to PC and Nintendo Switch 2 with Chivalware, launching on November 5.

Players take on the role of a Disk Knight in a cyber-medieval kingdom where the mission is to overthrow a king driven mad by power and isolation. However, strange glitches encountered along the journey suggest that something more sinister may be happening beneath the surface.

Reaching the castle will require more than a sharp sword. Chivalware combines real-time combat with tile-matching mechanics, challenging players to match groups of three tiles to acquire weapons and unleash attacks while dodging incoming blows on a grid-based battlefield. New items, weapons, and playable Disk Knights can also be permanently unlocked, allowing players to experiment with different approaches as they work toward overthrowing the king.

Although its mechanics are designed to be easy to pick up, mastering the rhythm of matching tiles, charging abilities, and avoiding enemy attacks will demand quick thinking and precise timing. With its unconventional mix of genres and retro-inspired digital fantasy setting, Chivalware aims to put a fresh spin on tactical adventure games.

Those curious to see how its unusual combat comes together won’t have to wait until launch, either. A playable demo is available now on both Steam and Nintendo Switch 2 ahead of Chivalware‘s November 5 release.
