Independent developer Joeveno and publisher NoQuarter have released BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER BEFORE 4: DEMONS FROM THE PORTAL TO HELL I OPENED ARE STILL IN THE FAVELA AND NOW I HAVE TO SAVE MAMADAS FROM RONALDO on Steam, bringing another dose of chaotic old-school FPS action inspired by the bootleg games and mods of the PlayStation 2 era.
Priced at $4.99 USD/EUR, the game is also available with a 10% launch discount during its first two weeks. The project has already surpassed 70,000 wishlists and comes from Joeveno, a developer, content creator, and musician from Rio de Janeiro who previously created BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER 3.
BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER BEFORE 4 is a standalone expansion to BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER 3 and serves as another deliberately outrageous tribute to Brazilian gaming culture, music, and the bootleg FPS scene of the 2000s. Built using id Tech 2, the game draws heavily from classic shooters such as Quake while leaning into its own bizarre take on Brazilian-themed action.
The story picks up after the events of the previous game, with the Mamadas kidnapped by Ronaldo McDalest following a party in Heaven. Players must rescue them, recover their Globeceta portal opener car, and deal with the remaining demons scattered throughout the invasion. The campaign takes players across Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Salvador, Hell, and even Heaven as they attempt to put an end to the latest supernatural disaster.
The game features 32 maps in total, including 18 campaign stages, seven Horde maps, and six Deathmatch maps. One of the campaign stages is even a skate level, while secret areas encourage players to experiment with the game’s movement mechanics.
There are also 13 weapons to discover, ranging from a simple flip-flop to more ridiculous creations such as a chimarrão flamethrower and a feijoada slingshot. Returning weapons include the berimbau, a payphone that fires coconuts, and a money-paper-airplane gun, while new additions expand the already unconventional arsenal.
Movement also embraces the classic FPS formula with double jumping, dashing, and rocket jumping. Players can revisit levels with different movement options in mind to uncover areas and secrets that may not be accessible through more traditional routes.
Multiplayer is supported across all maps through Steamworks, including cooperative play and Deathmatch. The game also features Steam Workshop support, making it possible for the community to contribute additional content.
As expected from the series, the enemy roster is equally unconventional. Alongside armed demons and zombies, players will encounter Brazilian truck clowns, possessed singers, two-man motorcycle enemies, angry TV mice, and possessed soccer team mascots.
