Back in 2018, the Johnny Turbo’s Arcade series began appearing on Switch, bringing classic Data East arcade games to the system for all to enjoy. These included not just games like Bad Dudes, but also games that had never had a home console port before, such as Night Slashers and Gate of Doom. However, f you did not buy them till now on Switch, then you are out of luck.
For reasons unknown, the series has vanished from the Switch eShop and visiting the eShop itself or Nintendo.com to search for Johnny Turbo’s Arcade or individual games results in nothing coming up. This may be a rights issue, however, as many of the releases are available still on GOG.com, which used a different name for many of the same releases, dubbing them Retro Classix, although some of those ports, like Night Slashers, seem to have issues that were not present on Switch, while others like Two Crude seem to be fine. That said, not all of the releases are available on GOG, such as Sly Spy.
It remains to be seen what will happen with the games in the future, but hopefully, this can be resolved. If you have already purchased the games, they should still be available for you to redownload.
