Top Hat Studios is bringing a new dark fantasy adventure to PC, with Ryn: And the Thread of Life putting players in the role of an unlikely hero armed with a pair of enchanted scissors. Developed by Innombrable, the 3D action adventure promises fast-paced combat, interconnected environments, and a journey through a world slowly falling apart.
The game’s story begins when the dark witch Stella tears apart the sacred Thread of Life, leaving magic corrupted and the world on the brink of collapse. Players take control of Ryn, a rag doll born from the last fragment of light, who must venture through the dying realm and defeat five corrupted dolls guarding the stolen fragments. Each victory brings new abilities that can be used against Stella’s forces, while also opening previously inaccessible areas and uncovering additional secrets.
Combat is built around a hack-and-slash system that combines light and heavy attacks, precise dodging, and abilities acquired from defeated enemies. Ryn’s magical scissors serve as the primary weapon, with Quick Time Events adding cinematic encounters that demand quick reactions. Beyond combat, the adventure features a retro-inspired interconnected world filled with hidden paths, shortcuts, unlockables, diaries, and environmental storytelling.
