Doctor Doom is preparing to unleash a weapon capable of destroying the cosmos, and MARVEL’s greatest heroes will have to fight their way through his stronghold to stop him. Developer Tribute Games and publisher Dotemu have unveiled a new gameplay trailer for MARVEL Cosmic Invasion: The Siege of Castle Doom, showcasing Castle Doom, a new run-based game mode arriving alongside the premium DLC on November 10.
Castle Doom challenges players to breach Victor von Doom’s heavily fortified castle before he can activate the Cosmic Inductor, a weapon originally designed to stop Annihilus that now threatens the entire universe. Surviving encounters charges the Stabilizer, a device created by Reed Richards to counter his longtime rival’s latest scheme, while collecting Battery Cells and completing challenges provides access to defensive, offensive, and tactical upgrades.
However, players will need to weigh their choices carefully, as failing challenges can weaken their fighters, and Doom has prepared traps for those attempting to infiltrate his domain. With 12 different perks to discover, branching routes through the castle, and increasingly dangerous encounters featuring Doom Bots and returning bosses from the base game, each run offers different ways to approach the fight. Successful attempts also unlock new equipment and events in Reed’s Lab, alongside modifiers that introduce additional challenges and potentially greater rewards.
Time is also a factor. The Siege Gauge steadily increases as players progress, strengthening the castle’s forces along the way. If it fills completely before players reach Doctor Doom for the final confrontation, the run ends immediately, making route selection and perk management just as important as mastering the game’s tag-team combat.
Beyond the new mode, MARVEL Cosmic Invasion: The Siege of Castle Doom introduces Susan Storm of the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom as playable characters. The DLC also features unlockable colour palettes for every playable superhero who defeats Doctor Doom, along with new original music from composer Tee Lopes.
Developed by Tribute Games, known for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge and Scott Pilgrim EX, MARVEL Cosmic Invasion has attracted more than 1.5 million players. The Siege of Castle Doom launches November 10 on Steam, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
