DC is turning 2027 into a major year for Wonder Woman, with the publisher announcing its Year of Wonder celebration alongside two new story arcs for the main comic series. The initiative begins in January with legendary writer Louise Simonson joining artist Cian Tormey for a four-issue story in Wonder Woman #41, followed by a six-issue arc from Stephanie Williams and Elena Casagrande.
Launching January 20, 2027, Simonson’s first run on DC’s main Wonder Woman series will establish a new status quo for Diana and the Amazons. The story sees Wonder Woman attempt to abolish the Amazon Safety Act and allow her sisters to return to the shores of Man’s World. However, the Amazons have endured considerable hardships, leaving questions about whether they are still willing to fight for humanity.
Simonson’s story will also bring together Wonder Woman and Lois Lane, while introducing Granny Goodness and her Female Furies into the mix. The writer will be joined by Tormey, whose work will bring the new arc’s action and character moments to life.
Following the four-issue story, Stephanie Williams and artist Elena Casagrande will take over for a six-issue arc that continues through October 2027. Williams previously contributed to the main series in 2026 and co-wrote Wonder Woman 2026 Annual: Wonder War – The Matriarch Special #1. Her upcoming story will also feature a long-awaited team-up between Diana and Nubia.
DC says additional stories and prominent creators will be announced as the Year of Wonder continues throughout 2027, suggesting that the two announced arcs are only part of the publisher’s plans for the character.
Wonder Woman #41 will feature a main cover by Ryan Sook, with variant covers by Daniel Sampere, Walter Simonson, and Tormey. David Nakayama will provide a foil variant, while Alexander Lozano will contribute a Sweater Weather variant. The 32-page issue will be available at participating comic shops and digital retailers for $4.99 US, with cardstock variants priced at $5.99 US.
DC is also marking Wonder Woman’s anniversary with a selection of comics available to read for free through DC UNIVERSE INFINITE. The Get to Know! Wonder Woman collection includes six issues and specials from different periods of the character’s history, featuring work by creators such as Tom King, Daniel Sampere, Greg Rucka, Nicola Scott, Phil Jimenez, and Steve Orlando.
The celebration extends to Burbank, California, where fans can visit the bronze Wonder Woman statue outside the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood entrance. Visit Burbank is also holding a commemorative comic book giveaway on October 21, with five winners set to be contacted on October 28.
With Simonson and Williams leading the first announced stories, DC’s Year of Wonder will give readers new adventures for the Amazon Princess while celebrating a legacy that began with her debut in All-Star Comics #8 in 1941. More announcements are expected throughout 2027.
