Deep Silver and KING Art Games have released a nine-minute Game Overview trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV, offering a closer look at the upcoming RTS and its extensive lineup of single-player and multiplayer content. With four playable factions, more than 70 campaign missions, and the return of a fan-favourite survival mode, the latest entry is shaping up to be the series’ most expansive instalment yet.
Set on Kronus, Dawn of War IV features four complete campaigns with branching paths and cooperative play. Players will command the Space Marines, Orks, Necrons, and Adeptus Mechanicus, each bringing its own units, mechanics, and approach to warfare. Outside the campaigns, Skirmish mode offers four game types, a range of customizable settings, and battles against up to five AI opponents.
Competitive players can also take the fight online across 30 multiplayer maps and three game types, with extensive customization options available to tailor each match. Meanwhile, The Last Stand returns as a cooperative survival mode, allowing three players to team up against increasingly relentless enemy waves. Players can choose from five heroes and build a Strikeforce of companion units to bring additional strategic options to each battle.
Army customization is also receiving an upgrade. The enhanced Painter tool allows players to select from dozens of presets or create their own designs using colours, decals, and war gear. For the first time in the series, players will be able to customize the appearance of their units’ armour and equipment piece by piece, offering greater control over the look of their armies.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV launches on December 3, 2026, for PC, with Commander Edition owners able to begin playing on November 30 through a three-day early unlock. Both editions are available to pre-order with a 10% discount.
The developers also have post-launch plans in place. Year One content will include free updates bringing back Crusade Mode, alongside new maps, modes, Commanders, and a Mission Editor. Two major story expansions are also planned, continuing the conflict on Kronus and introducing another playable faction.
