Mega Cat Studios is bringing its particularly violent take on wedding-day disasters to Steam Next Fest, with Lethal Wedding now offering a free demo ahead of its planned early 2027 release on Steam and Sega Genesis.
Inspired by the likes of Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Lethal Wedding puts players in the shoes of bride Joanna and her heavily armed mother-in-law as they attempt to rescue the groom-to-be from a cartel of murderous clowns. The demo supports both single-player and two-player couch co-op, with players blasting their way through locations including shopping malls, strip clubs, and other clown-infested hotspots.
Naturally, the game’s arsenal is just as ridiculous as its premise. Players can wield everything from submachine guns and explosive balloon animals to bridal bouquet mines, taking on an assortment of circus-themed criminals that includes knife throwers, unicyclists, bazooka-wielding bearded ladies, and plenty of other homicidal performers.
The full game is planned to feature more than 30 levels, over 25 character upgrades, and the Vow System, which adds optional challenges requiring players to complete randomized objectives before reaching the end of each stage. These vows introduce an additional risk-and-reward element to the action, giving players another reason to keep their wits about them while fighting through the game’s increasingly absurd encounters.
Mega Cat Studios has also clarified that the current Steam demo is an early build. Blood and gore effects, including pixelated blood and flying limbs, have not yet been implemented, and some previously discussed gameplay adjustments are still missing. The developer says these additions and changes will be in place from the first level when the full game launches.
With its retro-inspired action, over-the-top arsenal, and two-player co-op, Lethal Wedding is shaping up to be a particularly chaotic spin on the classic run-and-gun formula. Players can try the demo during the October 2026 edition of Steam Next Fest, while the full game is scheduled to arrive on Steam and Sega Genesis in early 2027.
