Komi Games and solo developer GrahfMetal are bringing a revamped take on retro sci-fi horror to Steam with Infested DX, a point-and-click adventure launching October 27 for $9.99 USD. Developed by Jeff Canam, whose previous work includes Beyond Shadowgate, the game combines classic adventure gameplay with a deadly extraterrestrial nightmare.
Players awaken aboard a derelict spaceship as its sole surviving crew member, facing an alien infestation and a mysterious infection spreading through their body. Finding a cure and a way back to Earth will require careful exploration, puzzle-solving, and resourcefulness, with hostile creatures and environmental traps making every encounter potentially fatal.
Originally released as an 8-bit adventure in 2016, Infested DX rebuilds the experience with upgraded 16-bit pixel art, new locations, expanded puzzles, additional story content, quicksave functionality, and controller support. The game embraces the unforgiving design of classic point-and-click adventures, where a wrong decision can lead to a gruesome death. Players will need to examine their surroundings, manage their inventory, and make creative use of the items they discover if they hope to survive.
Those interested in experiencing the horrors ahead can try the free demo currently available on Steam during Steam Next Fest. Infested DX launches for PC on October 27.
