Capcom is giving Nintendo Switch 2 players an early opportunity to hunt in Monster Hunter Wilds, with a free Prologue Demo now available ahead of the action RPG’s December 4, 2026, launch. The game is also available for preorder through the Nintendo eShop, with an early adopter discount and bonus cosmetic items up for grabs.
The Monster Hunter Wilds Prologue Demo features the full opening of the game, including its character creator, allowing players to customize their Hunter and Palico companion before heading into the Forbidden Lands. Players can also experience the opening story and take on monsters in the Windward Plains, with progress carrying over to the full game. Although the demo is limited to offline play, Nintendo Switch 2 owners can team up through local wireless multiplayer.
Those looking to secure the full game can preorder the digital version for $29.99, with the early adopter discount available through December 3. Preordering also includes the Guild Knight Set layered armor and Hope Charm Talisman. A physical Deluxe Edition is available to preorder from participating retailers for $39.99, bundling the base game with additional cosmetic items from the Deluxe Pack.
The Nintendo Switch 2 release will include the game’s Title Update content, bringing additional monsters such as Mizutsune, Lagiacrus, Seregios, and the elder dragon Gogmazios, alongside the Grand Hub, the FINAL FANTASY XIV Online collaboration, and additional challenges. Cross-play will also be supported, allowing Switch 2 players to join online multiplayer hunts with players on other platforms.
Capcom has also confirmed that Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, a massive expansion planned for 2027, is in development for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. With the free demo offering a way to get started and progress carrying over into the full release, Switch 2 players can begin preparing for their expedition before the game arrives this December.
