Tales of Eternia Remastered is now available, bringing the classic 2001 RPG back with updated presentation options and a selection of quality-of-life improvements. Bandai Namco Entertainment has released the remaster across Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, giving returning fans and newcomers another opportunity to experience one of the earlier entries in the Tales series.
One of the remaster’s notable additions is the ability to switch between remastered and original visuals and sound effects through its new Graphics Mode and SFX Mode. Several gameplay options are also designed to give players greater control over their adventure, including adjustable experience gains and encounter frequency, toggleable destination icons, and a high-speed mode during battles when using Auto mode. Battle Retry and Quick Recovery provide further conveniences, while players looking for a tougher challenge can access Extreme difficulty from the beginning. An additional Unknown difficulty setting is available after completing the game.
The adventure follows Reid Hershel and his companions Farah, Keele, and Meredy as they attempt to prevent the destruction of two interconnected worlds, Inferia and Celestia. With the catastrophic Grand Fall threatening both worlds, the group must seek the power of the Greater Craymels, elemental spirits whose abilities could help avert disaster. Their journey promises a mix of memorable characters, exploration, and action RPG combat, with the fate of both worlds hanging in the balance.
Originally released in 2001, Tales of Eternia was known as Tales of Destiny II in North America. This remaster brings the classic adventure to modern platforms while offering players the option to revisit its original presentation alongside the new conveniences. Tales of Eternia Remastered is available now on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
