With Metaphor: ReFantazio set to arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 next month, ATLUS has released a free Prologue Demo that gives players a substantial head start on the acclaimed fantasy RPG. Available now through the game’s Nintendo eShop page, the demo includes the opening portion of the adventure, with four dungeons to explore, seven Archetypes to unlock, and six followers to meet. Better yet, progress carries over to the full game when it launches on November 12, 2026.

The demo follows the beginning of the protagonist’s journey to lift the curse placed on the prince, introducing players to the United Kingdom of Euchronia and the social systems that play an important role throughout the adventure. Alongside experiencing the early narrative, players can begin experimenting with Archetypes, the game’s class system, which features more than 40 options in the full release. With four dungeons included, this is more than a brief taste of the opening moments, giving Switch 2 players an opportunity to get properly acquainted with the RPG before launch.

Originally released in 2024, Metaphor: ReFantazio was developed by Studio Zero, the team led by key creative talent behind the Persona series. Its fantasy setting trades modern-day Tokyo for a kingdom caught in a struggle over its next ruler, combining turn-based combat, real-time action, social interactions, and time-management mechanics. The result earned widespread critical acclaim, with the game receiving a 94 Metacritic score and winning Best Role-Playing Game, Best Narrative, and Best Art Direction at The Game Awards 2024.

ATLUS also noted that Metaphor: ReFantazio celebrated its second anniversary on October 11. The RPG sold one million units on launch day, making it the company’s fastest-selling game at the time. Its arrival on Switch 2 now gives another audience the opportunity to experience the adventure, with the demo offering a convenient way to get started ahead of the November release.

Metaphor: ReFantazio launches on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 12, 2026, and pre-orders are available now. The game is already available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Steam.
