M2 is taking its work on Toaplan’s classic shooter Ultimate Tiger back to where it all began, announcing plans to bring the game to arcade hardware as part of a new ShotTriggers Arcade series.
Also known as Tiger-Heli in some releases and markets, Ultimate Tiger has already received the specialist treatment from M2 on home consoles. The company’s work on the game was well received, and this latest announcement suggests that its approach to preserving arcade classics will extend beyond bringing them to modern living rooms.
The new ShotTriggers Arcade series will see Ultimate Tiger return to arcade settings, giving the shooter another opportunity to reach players in its original style of environment. The announcement was made during M2’s 10th anniversary event for the ShotTriggers series, which also featured several other projects centred on classic arcade games.
Further details about the ShotTriggers Arcade initiative, including how the new arcade release will be distributed and whether additional titles will follow, have yet to be announced. For now, Ultimate Tiger is the first confirmed part of this new venture, marking an interesting next step for a company known for its meticulous work on arcade conversions.
