The night is far from over for fans of classic Castlevania-inspired adventures, as indie developer Danny Garay has showcased the demo for Toziuha Night: Nosferatu’s Curse, a retro action platformer that combines gothic fantasy with old-school side-scrolling gameplay. The game is coming to PC and Nintendo Switch, with its Steam page offering a closer look at the dark world awaiting players.
The latest trailer runs for 49 seconds and showcases the game’s colourful 8-bit-inspired pixel art, with a moonlit landscape, towering trees, jagged mountains, and stone pathways setting the stage for the adventure. A dialogue box introduces Atreu, who warns that “It’ll be a tough journey,” hinting at the dangers ahead. The footage also shows a magical, glowing sigil hovering above a stone staircase, alongside characters exploring the eerie surroundings.
Set eight years after Dracula’s defeat, Toziuha Night: Nosferatu’s Curse follows a pair of young alchemists as they confront a new threat in the form of the demon Nosferatu. The game promises semi-linear levels filled with familiar enemies, new bosses, secrets, and puzzles, while players can revisit previously explored areas to uncover additional rewards.
Drawing inspiration from classic action platformers, the game also offers a choice between traditional and modern controls. Players will encounter allies with unique abilities and can switch between characters in real time, making it important to choose the right character for each situation. The adventure can also be played cooperatively, with local multiplayer support available through Steam’s Remote Play Together feature.
With its gothic atmosphere, chiptune soundtrack, and retro presentation, Toziuha Night: Nosferatu’s Curse looks to recapture the appeal of classic action platformers while introducing its own cast of characters and supernatural threats. The demo is available on Steam for those eager to experience the adventure ahead of the full game’s planned release.
