With its October 15 launch approaching, Echoes of the Unread is giving players two chances to get their hands on the upcoming musical adventure before it arrives on NES and PC. Developer Clever Cat Games and publisher Mega Cat Studios have launched two giveaways through Gleam, offering everything from a physical NES collector’s package to Steam keys for players looking to share the adventure with friends.
The Collector’s Haul giveaway is aimed at retro gaming enthusiasts in the United States, with one grand prize winner receiving a complete-in-box NES cartridge alongside a custom display shadowbox and hardcover journal. The prize also includes a merchandise collection featuring the official soundtrack on CD, an artbook, a poster, an enamel pin, a postcard, a bookmark, and a sticker sheet.
For those more interested in playing on PC, the Keys for the Crew giveaway is open to participants worldwide. Its grand prize winner will receive three Steam keys, allowing them to keep one and give the other two to friends, while four additional winners will each receive a key of their own. Players can enter either giveaway or try their luck with both.
Echoes of the Unread follows Rhapsody, a young girl who falls asleep while studying in a library and awakens in a strange world where books have come to life. Her voice holds the power to shape the world around her through song, and finding a way home means venturing into the pages of these fantastical stories.
Along the way, Rhapsody will befriend a cowboy, serenade a mermaid, outwit a mischievous ghost, and use mystical melodies to escape the clutches of Odele, a wicked magician determined to keep her trapped in the library. Its 8-bit presentation and music-driven adventure make for an unusual twist on the retro-inspired games Mega Cat Studios is known for bringing to players.
