Nintendo has rolled out another firmware update for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch, with version 23.0.1 now available for both systems.

While this is a much smaller update than the recently released version 23.0.0, Nintendo Switch owners will still want to download it. The latest firmware specifically addresses an issue that appeared following the previous update, which could cause software to take an unusually long time to start, pause, or close.

That makes version 23.0.1 more of a targeted fix than a feature-focused update. Version 23.0.0 introduced several changes across Switch and Switch 2, including new system functionality and other improvements, but the latest release is focused on making sure software behaves as expected after those changes.

Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch owners can download the update through the System Settings menu by selecting System and then System Update. The consoles can also automatically download the latest firmware when connected to the internet.

There are no new features or major system changes listed for version 23.0.1, but fixing an issue that could interfere with starting, pausing, or closing games is certainly a worthwhile reason to keep your console updated.
