Fans of classic first-person fantasy RPGs will have a new adventure to explore this October, as Queen’s Domain has been confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC via Steam. Publisher Future Friends Games and developer Freshly Baked Games have announced that the retro-style action RPG will launch across all four platforms on October 30, with the console versions newly revealed as part of the announcement.
Inspired by games such as King’s Field, Queen’s Domain takes players to the mysterious Isle of Neasied after the protagonist washes up on its shores. With their father missing, players must explore the island and uncover the dark secrets hidden within its interconnected, labyrinthine world. The adventure places a particular emphasis on exploration, with hidden areas, dangerous monsters, powerful bosses, and plenty of secrets waiting to be discovered.
Combat is built around a classic stamina system, with players able to make use of charge attacks, weapon-specific special attacks, and a wide selection of secondary throwing weapons. More than 50 melee weapons can be discovered, equipped, and upgraded throughout the adventure, while over 20 types of throwing weapons provide additional ways to approach encounters.
One of the more unusual abilities comes from the Legendary Holy Sword Endu, which allows players to fly across gaps and reach otherwise inaccessible areas. Upgrades can increase the distance players are able to travel, making the ability an important part of both exploration and uncovering the island’s secrets.
Character progression also goes beyond simply gaining experience. Players can level up using XP, while eating food can provide additional stat increases. Across the island, Queen’s Domain promises more than 100 enemies, mini bosses, and bosses to battle, along with dozens of hours of exploration and adventuring.
With its retro-fantasy presentation, first-person perspective, interconnected world, stamina-focused combat, and emphasis on exploration, Queen’s Domain is clearly aimed at players looking for a more old-school take on the action RPG. The game will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC via Steam on October 30.
