Fans of classic city builders will soon have another ancient civilization to shape, as Triskell Interactive and Dotemu have announced that Theos: Cities of Myth will launch on PC through Steam on November 4.
Coming from the team behind Pharaoh: A New Era, Theos: Cities of Myth takes the familiar city-building formula into the world of ancient Greece, where keeping a civilization prosperous means dealing with both its mortal inhabitants and the whims of the gods watching over them. A new gameplay trailer released alongside the announcement offers a closer look at how players will construct and manage their own Greek polis.
The game puts seven Greek deities at the center of the experience, with players expected to satisfy their various demands in exchange for divine blessings and other advantages. Keeping the gods happy will be just as important as ensuring that the city’s residents have everything they need, while famous figures such as Aristotle can also be attracted to a thriving settlement.
Beyond constructing temples, homes, streets, and other infrastructure, players will have plenty of room to experiment with how their cities develop. Theos: Cities of Myth features a campaign offering dozens of hours of gameplay alongside a sandbox mode designed for players who simply want to build and manage their ideal ancient metropolis.
The developers are also looking beyond the traditional city-building formula by giving players neighboring settlements to contend with. Cities can maintain armies to defend themselves from rival rulers, while those looking for a more aggressive approach can take the fight to their neighbors in real-time battles.
Visually, Theos: Cities of Myth aims to bring its version of ancient Greece to life with everything from imposing temples and statues dedicated to the gods to smaller details such as greenery and carefully maintained streets. The game’s building and management systems are also based on the experience Triskell Interactive gained while developing Pharaoh: A New Era, with the developers promising an approachable interface alongside deeper city-planning options for experienced players.
Theos: Cities of Myth will launch on PC via Steam on November 4.
