Zen Studios has packed the latest episode of Pinball Bites with plenty of news for Pinball FX players, including a first look at Judge Dredd in action, new Pinball FX Midnight tables, expanded VR support, upcoming pricing changes, and a major player milestone.
Following its reveal in the previous episode, Judge Dredd has now received its first gameplay trailer, giving players a closer look at the upcoming table inspired by the iconic comic book character. Set in Mega-City One, the table will feature fast-paced gameplay, multiple multiball modes, and plenty of opportunities for players to chase high scores.
Judge Dredd will launch for Pinball FX, Pinball FX Midnight, and Pinball FX VR on October 22. The table will cost $9.99 in Pinball FX and Pinball FX Midnight, with cross-entitlement supported between the two versions, while the VR version will cost $14.99.
Judge Dredd isn’t the only new table arriving on October 22, as two previously released Pinball FX tables are also getting the Pinball FX Midnight treatment. Scare Stiff and Elvira and the Party Monsters will both receive new Midnight versions as part of their first anniversary celebrations.
Players who already own Scare Stiff or Elvira and the Party Monsters in Pinball FX will receive their respective Midnight versions at no additional cost. New buyers will also be able to purchase the tables once and receive access to both versions, giving the upcoming releases a little extra value for those looking to add them to their collections.
Zen Studios also provided an update for Pinball FX VR, with the game coming to Steam Frame as the developer continues expanding its VR presence. Pinball FX VR is also planned for PlayStation VR2 later this year, with Zen Studios aiming to include all currently released tables at launch alongside a surprise release.
The developer also acknowledged player requests for a SteamVR version of Pinball FX VR, noting that it is currently looking into the possibility of bringing the game to the platform in the future.
Another significant change is coming to Pinball FX’s pricing structure. Starting October 22, Zen Studios will introduce standardized pricing across its tables and collections in an effort to make the cost of expanding a player’s library easier to understand.
Under the new structure, individual tables will cost $4.99, while two-table packs and licensed Williams singles will cost $9.99. Three- to four-table packs, along with Indiana Jones: The Pinball Adventure, will cost $14.99, while larger collections will be priced at either $29.99 or $44.99 depending on the collection.
Zen Studios also revealed that Pinball FX has now reached more than 3 million players. To celebrate the milestone, the studio is planning a special giveaway, with additional details expected to be announced through its social media channels at a later date.
Steam players have another update to look forward to as well, with Zen Studios working toward bringing cross-entitlement to Pinball FX and Pinball FX Midnight on Steam. While an exact release date has not been announced, the developer is currently targeting the feature for sometime before the end of the year, with more information expected in the coming weeks.
Finally, Zen Studios announced plans for Pinball Expo, where it will share a booth with X-Arcade and have several surprises planned for attendees. The company also introduced Sean Grant as its new pinball ambassador. Grant is an experienced competitive pinball player who has competed in major tournaments and uses Pinball FX as a way to practice, study table rules, and prepare strategies for physical competitions.
With Judge Dredd and two Midnight tables arriving on October 22, new VR platforms on the horizon, standardized pricing, Steam cross-entitlement in development, and Pinball FX surpassing 3 million players, the latest Pinball Bites has plenty in store for the Pinball FX community.
