Entalto Publishing and Italian developer ONE O ONE GAMES have released The Alighieri Circle: Dante’s Bloodline, a first-person psychological mystery thriller inspired by Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy. The game is now available on PC via Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG, as well as PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with 11 language options and English and Italian voice acting. It is priced at $19.99 USD and is available with a 10% launch discount for its first two weeks.
A demo is also available on Steam, giving players an early look at the game’s unsettling atmosphere, esoteric puzzles and the two realities at the heart of its story.
In The Alighieri Circle: Dante’s Bloodline, every 33 years the barrier between the real world and Hell begins to weaken. Gabriele Alighieri must return to his ancestral home and perform an ancient ritual to protect his family and prevent the gates of Hell from opening, forcing him to confront a destiny he has spent his life trying to escape.
The game’s latest developer diary explores the contrasting environments Gabriele encounters during his journey. The Villa represents the physical world, with its melancholic halls carrying the history and burden of the Alighieri family, while the surreal Dive reflects Gabriele’s internal struggles. Its sterile white exterior conceals an increasingly disturbing red interior, representing the protagonist’s suppressed rage, guilt and trauma.
The two environments are designed to blur the line between physical reality and psychological experience, reinforcing the game’s interpretation of Hell as something that exists within rather than simply a world populated by demons and monsters.
Players must recover lost magical pages of the Divine Comedy and reunite them to complete the Infernal Seal ritual. Along the way, they will solve esoteric riddles, explore the Villa and Dive, and search for collectibles and diary pages that gradually reveal the history of the Alighieri bloodline and Gabriele’s forgotten memories.
“Not the fear of dying, but the fear of being seen” is how Game Director Gaia Righelli describes the game’s approach to horror, with the threat coming from the idea of being completely understood rather than simply being killed.
