Funcom has announced that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions of Dune: Awakening will launch on September 22, and will also be made available via Game Pass and the Microsoft Store on the same day.

Combining all the new content, features, and improvements that have rolled out on PC during the past year, with the slew of new additions coming for both PC and console in September, Funcom is set to release the definitive version of the Arrakis survival experience on all three platforms.

Today, Funcom released a complete overview of what players can expect.

Highlights of what’s coming with the September release:

  • Console – Same experience as on PC, with controls and user interface optimized for console. 60fps target for both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X (Performance Mode).
  • Single-Player – The full game can now be played entirely in single-player, with scalable difficulty and a wide range of gameplay customization settings.
  • Story Complete – The grand finale of Book One, offering a dramatic conclusion to Dune: Awakening‘s cinematic storyline. Play it from start to finish.
  • Scalable Difficulty – Tweak everything from harvesting rates to experience gain and combat difficulty. In single-player and private servers, you’re in control.

New players on PC and console will also get to enjoy all the many new additions and improvements that have been rolled out on PC since launch, including:

  • Optional Player-Versus-Player – In multiplayer, the entire game can be played in full player-versus-environment, including the vast, open Deep Desert and participation in the faction vs. faction conflict.
  • Bigger, Better Late Game Loop – Rebuilt from the ground up, providing a much more balanced, immersive, and content-rich experience for all players.
  • No More Loss – Thanks to the vehicle backup tool and the base reconstruction tool, in multiplayer, you can now take extended breaks without losing progress.
  • Self-Hosted Servers – On PC, host your own server without having to rent one, and fully customize the experience for you and your friends.
  • New Content – The story has expanded and several new map locations have been added, offering new challenges and epic rewards.
  • Quality of Life – Countless quality of life improvements has been added, from character re-customization, the removal of taxes, and much more.

More Coming Beyond September

Funcom also has major plans for what’s coming after September, including an entirely new survival map. The Polar Cap, a new Hagga Basin-like map located at the Arrakis pole, will arrive as a free update later this year and introduce new content and survival mechanics. Funcom previously released a teaser giving a glimpse into this icy biome.

The game will also be fully Xbox Play Anywhere enabled, allowing cross-play between Xbox and Microsoft Store players, as well as sharing progress across both platforms. The game will also support the ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Cloud Gaming, bringing the game to even more platforms.
