Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is coming to PlayStation 5 exclusively, but one group that worked on it may surprise you. According to the credits, Nintendo Pictures did work on the title with credits for a motion capture director, motion capture advisor, motion capture editors, and motion capture coordinators.
Nintendo Pictures was officially established in 2022 after Nintendo acquired the visual content company Dynamo Pictures. While the original announcement mentioned that Nintendo Pictures would make visual content based on Nintendo IP, it should be noted that Dynamo Pictures worked on the original Death Stranding, so this may have been a prior commitment that was grandfathered in,
That being said,Nintendo Pictures’ website lists “motion capture recording services” separately from video production using Nintendo IP, and the group has contributed to non-Nintendo animation projects since 2022, including motion capture and CG production assistance for Toei Animation’s Pretty Cure anime, so it is possible the group will work on non-Nintendo games more going forward.
