Call of Duty Modern Warfare III was released last year and has been a wonderful addition to the series. This entry has shared seasons alongside Warzone which is the free to play companion game to the mainline series.

With Season 6 being the last season for Call of Duty Modern Warfare III before the release of Black Ops 6, it really went out on a hauntingly good note! As great as this season was, it has a couple of things missing that would have been great to see come back. This season is fittingly called The Haunting that’s just in time for spooky season.

This is the second time The Haunting event has come to the series with the first time being seen back with Call of Duty Modern Warfare II. Back when The Haunting was brought to the series, we saw an amazing crossover event with Diablo IV. We saw the horrors from Diablo IV come to Battle Royale.

I could go on about that first iteration of The Haunting event, but this is all about this second iteration of the event with Season 6 of Call of Duty Modern Warfare III and Warzone.

This season features one core map, six map variants, game modes specific to this season, and some hauntingly good operator skins.

The core map is called Drive-Thru which is a 6 vs 6 map that sees you take the battle to a drive through diner, complete with a trailer park in the back, and a haunted carousel off to the side of the diner.

Some of the map variants are neat with some of them not so much. The most notable map variant being Mad Cow. This takes the Meat map and floods the map and gives it a moldy type look to the buildings insides and it’s fun to play around in. I am all for map variants as they change the way the map plays and is fun to experience maps in new ways. But the issue I have with the rest of the variants is that they are all the same map which is called Shipment. Shipment in this season was given five variants called Sunny, Ghost, Arena, Bit-Ment, and Stay-High Shipment.

The Shipment variants are neat, but I wish there was a couple variants for Shipment and have seen a couple more variants of other maps. Like we could have seen a variant of Skidrow, Dome, or even Highrise.

The game modes offered this season are Hordepoint, Arcade, Infected, and Mutation. Hordepoint is a variation of Hardpoint with the difference between the two modes being that zombie hordes show up to try and stop you from controlling the hardpoint locations. Arcade is similar to the main team deathmatch and free for all modes but adds special abilities like the ability to jump really high and adds special powerful weapons that you can pickup around the map. Infected is a mode that a team of human players going up against one infected player. The infected player uses their zombie abilities to infect other human players until there is only one human player left on the human side. Mutation is the last mode offered this season. In Mutation, you have a team of Zombies and a team of humans. Each player take turns playing as the mutated horde and humans. Humans have extra ammo and killstreaks to help stave off the mutant horde before them. While the mutants have special abilities that differ between the four classes of mutant that are offered.

Season 6 of Modern Warfare III The Haunting offers one more segment of the season which is the operator skins that are specific to this season and they really did a wonderful job with the offerings here.

Just like with previous seasons, you can purchase the Battle Pass and can upgrade the Battle Pass to Black Cell. By purchasing the upgrade, you have access to unique operator skins and weapon skins that are only available with the purchased upgrade and with this season you also get an operator skin that’s exclusive to those that purchased the Black Cell upgrade for Battle Pass.

The first operator you get as a part of the Battle Pass this season is Michael Meyers, the creepy silent knife wielding menace from the Halloween franchise. Though he doesn’t come with guns, he does come with his signature knife and a neat signature finishing move.

Alone is the one operator skin that is only available to those that have purchased the Black Cell upgrade for the Battle Pass. Alone is a gruesome three headed monster of a man that has some cool decals and alright weapon skins.

The last operator skin that is offered as a part of this sixth season is Urzikistan’s Ghost. This operator is by far one of the creepiest and offers two variants for those that purchase Black Cell. The one offered as a part of the Battle Pass looks creepy and is demon like in appearance with the Black Cell variant being ghost white and has a slight glow that gives it an ethereal look.

The rest of the operators offered as a part of the Battle Pass are The Final Girl, Bubby’s Night Out, Slamfire, Camp is Hell, The Last Straw, and This is Fine.

As cool as these operators are, the really cool operators are those that you can purchase separately in the store section. I mentioned earlier on that this season was a great season and went out on a high note, I meant it.

The first of the purchasable operators is Daryl Dixon from The Walking Dead series. Given we previously got Rick Grimes and Michonne, it was only fitting we would get someone else from the amazing series. Though I really like Daryl, I would have much rather have gotten Neagan as a playable operator skin. Daryl comes with two guns and his signature crossbow. Besides the weapons, and stickers, he comes with two variants. One has him wearing his poncho and the other has him wearing a tactical suit from when he joined the Common Wealth.

This second purchasable operator was a hauntingly good surprise and that is Art the Clown. Art is everyone’s favorite horror villain from the Terrifier movie franchise. Art is a character that can be funny, but also demented as hell. He comes with two guns, some stickers, and a cool loading screen, just in case you can’t get enough of your favorite horrifying villain!

The third operator you can purchase from the store is Sam from the Trick R Treat movie. He has two variants which are him with his signature burlap mask and the second being one of him unmasked with a hugely misshapen head. He comes with a couple of weapons and some decals.

The fourth and final operator that you can purchase is a double pack of operator variants. These two are tied to the upcoming film called Smile 2.

These are possessed operators Makarov and Valeria. Both come with their own weapon skins and a couple of decals. These two are pretty creepy and really have me excited for the upcoming film.

Given what Season 6 of Call of Duty Modern Warfare III and Warzone have provided, I am really excited to see what the next iterations of season will be like when we get Black Ops 6 dropping later this month. It was a fitting end to the games content life-cycle. If you like horror themed offerings with movie and TV show tie ins, then you should definitely pickup this season of Battle Pass (either on it’s own or with Black Cell) and the purchasable operators that are offered as separate purchases.
