Some new details have emerged about Super Mario RPG in the days before release, and we now know the developer behind the remake and the engine that was used.

While the original game for the SNES was made by Square Enix, this version was made by ArtePiazza as shown in the “Intellectual Property Notices” for the game for those preloading. This is a studio that has been around for decades and is largely known for its work on the Dragon Quest series, such as the 2D mode for Dragon Quest XI.

The notice also indicated that the remake was made using the Unity engine. While most Nintendo games do not use that engine, Yoshi’s Crafted World and Fire Emblem Engage have used it.
