The spacefaring felines at Mega Cat Studios, in partnership with Video Game Sage, r/Retrogaming, and the Retro Gaming Network Discord server, are pleased to announce the release of Super Excidium Event for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. A truly collaborative effort, Super Excidium Event is best described as “the SNES game that Reddit built,” with developer Mega Cat Studios and the classics-crazed community at r/Retrogaming working closely together to craft an exciting new addition to the SNES library while supporting a truly worthwhile cause.
Now available to purchase directly through Mega Cat Studios’ online shop, with all proceeds going to Child’s Play, Super Excidium Event is a brand-new 16-bit fixed-screen shoot-’em-up. Set in deep space, this interstellar epic is a throwback to the glory days of arcade gaming that’s sure to soothe the itchiest of trigger fingers. As intrepid space pilots soar across perilous alien terrain and master the game’s unique four-way weapons system, they’ll trade shots with deadly swarms of enemy ships and a bestiary of epic bosses hell-bent on reducing your sweet starfighter into a sad puff of space dust.
Not only does Super Excidium Event allow players to beat back waves of invading enemies, but most importantly, it also helps countless kids keep boredom at bay through Mega Cat Studios and r/Retrogaming’s partnership with the Child’s Play charity. Established in 2003 by Penny Arcade creators Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins, the charity donates therapeutic games and technology to pediatric hospitals to improve patients’ lives through the power of play.
