STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT is now available in North America for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, giving fans a revamped take on the original visual novel alongside a new storyline that was not part of the 2009 release.
Developed by MAGES. and published by Spike Chunsoft, STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT features completely revamped visuals and introduces a new Gamma Worldline route. The story follows protagonist Rintaro Okabe as he finds himself in a world where the time machine was never completed and D-Mails, messages capable of altering the past, do not exist. The new route offers another look at the game’s time-travel premise, placing Okabe in a reality where the tools that once made changing history possible are absent.
Players can choose between Standard and Digital Deluxe editions, with the latter offering more than the base game. The Digital Deluxe Edition includes a digital art book, the STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT soundtrack, footage from the STEINS;GATE 15th LIVE ONE WORLD event with English subtitles, and STEINS;GATE Octet of Shifting Space.
Physical Standard and SteelBook editions are also available for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5, with a sticker included as a first-print-run bonus. Players interested in picking up the digital version can find it through the Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, and Microsoft Store.
There is one important warning for players before starting their adventure: Spike Chunsoft advises installing all available patches before playing, stating that installing the patches later will delete all save data.
While North American players can jump in now, physical editions in the UK and EU are scheduled to launch on November 3, 2026. Digital editions are already available in those regions.
STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT revisits the science-fiction visual novel originally released in 2009, combining its familiar premise with updated visuals and new narrative content. The addition of the Gamma Worldline gives returning fans another storyline to explore, while the refreshed presentation provides a new way to experience Okabe’s time-bending adventure.
