Tribute Games, in collaboration with Universal Products & Experiences and Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O’Malley, has released the first major content expansion for Scott Pilgrim EX.
The new content is split between the paid Back in the Band DLC and the free Coin-Op Chaos title update, both of which are available now for the game on PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch & Switch 2.
Scott Pilgrim EX: Back in the Band is priced at $3.99 USD and adds three new playable characters to the roster: Stephen Stills, Kim Pine and Knives Chau. The DLC also includes new assists, moves, combos and character palettes.
Stephen Stills is an aggressive rushdown fighter who uses his guitar and feedback attacks to keep enemies under constant pressure. Kim Pine focuses on hard-hitting attacks and mix-ups, with her drumsticks and explosive drum solos adding to her combat abilities.
Knives Chau, meanwhile, is a fast-moving rogue specialist who uses acrobatic attacks, shadow clones and her signature battle scarf to quickly move around the battlefield and deal damage.
The DLC also introduces three new assist characters. Joseph can unleash a wall of sound that sends sonic projectiles across the battlefield, while Hollie uses her remote to trap enemies in a barrage of attacks. Mr. Chau can also summon shadow clone support to turn attacks into multi-hit assaults.
Alongside the paid DLC, the free Coin-Op Chaos update introduces a new Arcade Mode for all Scott Pilgrim EX owners. Inspired by classic arcade beat ’em ups, the mode lets players fight through the game’s main locations, bosses and encounters while working toward the final showdown.
Arcade Mode adds lives, credits, score chasing and local rankings, giving players another reason to replay the game and improve their scores. The mode can be played solo or with up to four players through local co-op and online multiplayer, with cross-platform support also included.
Players can also drop in or out of multiplayer sessions without interrupting the action.
To celebrate the launch of the new content, Scott Pilgrim EX is currently available at 20 percent off on PC and consoles through September 9. This marks the first discount for the game since its launch in March.
`With Back in the Band filling out the playable roster and Coin-Op Chaos adding a more traditional arcade-style experience, Scott Pilgrim EX now has even more ways for fans to return to its version of Toronto.
