The future of Sacred 2 Remaster is becoming more limited, as its developers have announced plans to scale back development and rule out several major additions. While the team will continue working on the action RPG, players should not expect major system reworks, console multiplayer, or new content and DLC, with the remaining development effort shifting towards smaller fixes and improvements.
In an update addressed to the Sacred community, the developers thanked players for their patience and feedback over the past year, particularly as they worked through issues that affected the game at launch. Future updates will focus on changes that can be implemented without introducing further problems elsewhere, with quest-related bugs now taking priority.
The team currently has around 40 quest issues documented, many of which have proven difficult to investigate because the reports lack save files that allow the problems to be reproduced. Players who encounter broken quests are encouraged to submit reports with as much detail as possible, ideally including a save file made after starting the affected quest but before completing the problematic step. Using the quicksave feature at the location where the issue occurs can make it easier for the developers to reproduce and investigate the problem.
Console players who cannot extract their save files are still encouraged to submit reports. The developers ask that these include the quest name, a screenshot of the relevant quest entry in the logbook, the character being used, whether the player is following the Light or Shadow campaign, and screenshots showing the quest-giving NPC both in-game and on the map. Additional details that could help reproduce the problem are also welcome.
Players can submit their reports through the official Sacred 2 Remaster bug reporting page. The team also wants community members to help identify which quest problems should receive the most attention, acknowledging that manually checking every quest and questline is not practical with its reduced resources.
Nintendo Switch players have another fix to look forward to, with a stability patch currently in development that is expected to resolve a large proportion of the crashes affecting the platform. The developers have not provided a release date for the update, and they caution that quest fixes may take time depending on how easily individual problems can be reproduced.
Although new content is no longer part of the plan, the team also intends to make it easier for the community to work with the remaster’s moddable files. Documentation explaining these files and how they can be used is in the works, building on resources already available through the game’s Discord community and the Sacred forums at DarkMatters.
The reduced scope means Sacred 2 Remaster’s future updates will be focused more on repairing existing problems and supporting community efforts than expanding the game. For players who have been waiting for broader changes or additional content, the announcement sets clear limits on what to expect, while leaving room for continued bug fixes and improvements to the existing experience.
