Nintendo is bringing the Virtual Boy to the Nintendo Classics lineup on Nintendo Switch Online and it is coming with a required physical accessory, which makes other possibilities more likely.
A new parent from Nintendo (h/t Mike Odyssey) seems to imply that Nintendo is working to bring Nintendo DS games to the Switch and Switch 2 via another Nintendo Classics lineup. DS Games did come to the Wii U via the Virtual Console, so it is not out of the realm of possibility.
The patent showcases different ways players would be able to display dual-screen games on the Switch & Switch 2, and shows there are 3 different display options to choose from, which include Dual Screen (Parent/Child Screens), Single Screen Mode (Picture in Picture) and Switch Mode (Switch Between Screens). Players would be able to decide whichever of these options suits them best and go with that.
However, just because Nintendo filed this patent, this doesn’t mean Nintendo will actually go through with it. The fact that Virtual Boy is coming, does provide some hope though.
