Earlier this year, Ratailaika and Shinyuden worked to bring Sugoro Quest: Dice Heroes to modern platforms and localized for the first time. The game, originally from Technos, is a brilliant board game RPG for the Famicom that is still a blast today ( see our review here) and received some great touch-ups and updates in the re-release. There was a sequel to the game / enhanced remake for the Super Famicom as well, and until this year it too never left Japan.
Well, it left Japan, but not in an ideal way. The game was included on Super Technos World: River City & Technos Arcade Classics, but was left untranslated. Considering how menu heavy Sugoro Quest++ –DICENICS- is, this is less than ideal, and many were still unable to actually enjoy the game.
Recently, Ratallaika was asked on X ( formerly Twitter) about the possibility of localizing Sugoro Quest++ –DICENICS- and the response was welcome albeit a bit worrying. Ratalaika is indeed trying to get the rights to localize and re-release the game, but the developer/publisher is unsure if it will be able to secure said rights. Considering the excellent work Ratalaika does with its re-releases, we are hoping the company is successful in getting the rights and bringing a localized version west.
