The next game in D4 Enterprise’s EGGCONSOLE re-releases of classic Japanese computers games for Switch will be the PC-88 adventure game Seilane. The game, coming to the Nintendo Switch eShop on July 18th, is an adventure game originally released in 1987 by Microcabin that sees players taking control of a young field mouse named Prill who embarks on a journey to save his sister and rescue a village of animals turned to stone. The game features a command system similar to a lot of classic ADV games of the period, with players having to select from a series of verbs like “talk”, “call”, and “listen” to interact with their surroundings.
The game is planned for a Western release as well, which is odd since this is an adventure game that is text heavy, and the game will be unlocalized except for an English how-to-play section and main menu. This will likely result in Western players needing an OCR translator, but again it is an odd choice to bring to the West. A Japanese release makes sense, but an adventure game in japanese is just an odd choice for an unlocalized Western release, compared to Action RPGs, platformers and shmups.
The game will cost $6.49 on the eShop in the US if you want to try it.
