While many were delighted by the reveal of a remake of Super Mario RPG for the Switch in the recent Nintendo Direct, someone who was caught off guard is Chihiro Fujioka
Chihiro Fujioka was the director of Super Mario RPG on the Super Nintendo back in 1996, but not only is Fujioka not returning to handle Super Mario RPG on Switch, it seems he didn’t even know the project was happening.
When asked on Twitter if he’d be returning for the remake, Fujioka noted that he wasn’t involved, and added that he was “very surprised and pleased” to see that the project was in the works.
